Magandang GenSan... Was the sing-song cheerful greeting popularized by its people who warmly welcomed each and every visiting blogger from all over Mindanao. And indeed, GenSan is...
Even with the rain pouring down from the time that the event started until late afternoon, the Second MBS went through... with flying colors. :D
2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit
Mindanawon, Paminawon Intawon:
Blogging the Mindanao Consciousness
October 25, 2008
Family Country Hotel and Convention Center
General Santos City
Too bad I was not able to have my e-pass printed.. I could have won in the raffle but anyways, just being there already made me feel like a million bucks. Char! Hahaha...
Seriously... we were among the first groups to have arrived. While the registration was going on, a couple of power interruptions were experienced. But even with the lights off, we still enjoyed picture taking..
I would not also have received the goodie bag distributed to the first 100 participants, salamat Sir Avel for the kind consideration. :D
Here are photos taken of me and Ice with Sir Avel, Blogie Robillo, and Ms. GenSan Ivy Cunanan.
After the opening and formalities, Pierre Tito Galla shared his thoughts on many issues surrounding Mindanao. Popularly known as Jester, most people would have thought of him odd. The first exchange with him was when he asked if it was ok to share the table. First impression? Weird guy. :) But he was rightfully fit to have been chosen to open the discussions as his thought provoking messages yet lively presence left the crowd energetic and wanting more.
The rest of the speakers to complete the summit composed of: Walter Balane, Hector P. Miñoza, Aileen Apolo, Ria Jose, and Bobby Timonera.
Though I had some articles to finish which thanks to the free Wi-Fi sponsored by Globe was submitted that day, I was still able to catch great thoughts throughout the discussions.
Being a lover of still life, the photoblogging part got me really interested. The speaker Mr Timonera started off with his previous career as a photojournalist of one of the most prestigious newspapers nationally distributed throughout the Philippines and eventually into his website and what he does now. The photos in his presentation were really amazing. :)
And a line about photography from him: "It's not anout the high tech, long zoom range. It's about shooting between the ear."
Giveaways were given every now and then. From Google Ph stuffs, to umbrellas from Forest Lake, to bags from Globe and a whole lot more.
And by late afternoon, Shout-Outs from bloggers from various places in Mindanao spoke about their niches. With the last from Sir Avel in a standing ovation :)
Kudos to everybody who made the second Mindanao Bloggers ' Summit a success, especially to Sir Avel.
To the office of the Mayor and the sponsors here's another round of applause..
And we were off to enjoy our free time...
and of Mr. Bobby Timonera..
